Though once very famous and installed in almost every mobile phone Symbian has lost the battle. Apple iOS and Google Android have made Symbian platform the story of past. But still Nokia is working on Symbian and trying to make it more attractive though there will not be any new high end mobile phone installed with Symbian OS. Just few months back Nokia released Symbian Anna to get some attraction and now releasing Nokia Belle (previously called Symbian Belle).

Nokia Belle or Symbian Belle is the latest upgrade for Nokia Symbian^3. Nokia 701, Nokia 700 and Nokia 603 have already Nokia Belle and other Symbian^3 users were expecting to get Belle. The wait is not yet over but soon in Feb 2012, the users of Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, and Nokia Oro will be getting Nokia Belle update – Starting in February 2012, Nokia will release the all new Nokia Belle software update to existing customers and you’ll be able to download it right on to your phone, bringing a whole heap of improved features – they said.

Do not expect Nokia Belle will be in competition with Android or iOS. This is only an update to enhance some features of Nokia Anna and better aesthetic interface. You have seen three home screens in Symbian^3 but these will be six in Belle. There are new designs for a few widgets which will come in five different sizes. It has gotten HTC digital clock. The status bar will have pull down notification tab where you will be able to see SMS and missed calls. There are also new business apps from Microsoft includes Lync (IM for businesses, like Microsoft Communicator), Sharepoint, OneNote, Exchange ActiveSync and PowerPoint Broadcaster. Enhanced NFC (Near Field Communication) feature will make the data exchange more easy between two devices.

On Nokia N8 there was problem of hanged screens when opening two or more applications. Users were normally asked to close some open applications before proceed. Hopefully, multitasking will be better than before as they have promised.

Nokia Belle is coming pre-installed on Nokia N8, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. The first country to get Nokia Belle pre-installed on these handsets is China. Others are in the queue. But as they said, it will be coming to Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, and Nokia Oro in next February 2012. Read more HERE and HERE.
