Free Download Multi Commander With New Features To Replace Windows Explorer

Windows has its own file manager Called Windows Explorer. It has a very simple graphical user interface thorough which we can interact with various parts of Windows. In fact, it is an important part of Windows. We want to access file system, want to run some files located in folder or just want to explore Windows, we use it. Simply, Windows Explorer is Windows file manger. Though it is possible to all tasks without it but we are too lazy to remember the commands to use on command prompt. One other big drawback is it has very limited features.

To overcome the inability of Windows Explorer to do many tasks, there are a few alternatives available. Some are free and some demands money. Multi Commander, which was used to be shareware, with lots of handy extra features seems to be a good alternative to Windows Explorer. With this latest release 1.1.0 b780, it has been free. Future versions may need subscription but it is not confirmed, yet.

Multi Commander has all the features available in default Windows Explorer with lots of extra features like packing to and from archives, tabbed view, computer browsing, different file viewer like Ascii, UTF8, Unicode, Binary , Hex, Convert text file to/from Unix/Windows/Mac format, get movie info from IMDB, and a lot more features.

Though Multi Commander is free now but there are still a few things which may force you to think it as still shareware like in main menu in Help, you will find Register. If you press button Register without entering the license info, it will show Failed! License data is incorrect. Just ignore it. On the download page, they have clearly mentioned it as free for the current release. There is pricing schedule for the future releases. My installed copy shows the expiration on 2011-11-30. I am also ignoring it.
