Facebook Rival Ello is Public Benefit Corporation Said No ADS
“But 2014 is not 2004, and the world has changed”, Ello’s letter says openly. You may know that Facebook was created in 2004 and this line in the letter clearly striking at 100 miles per hour bouncer at Facebook’s core business activities.
Ello is a new social networking site of which most of you have already know through media. I do not know how much the success is for Ello in real world because the world is already full of social networking sites. It may that there will be match-making feature becomes available for some subscription. Who knows! Whatever, they have high ambitions and hopes for success.
Yesterday, I received an email from Ello in which they talk about the whispers in public about Ello’s business model and clearing Ello’s position in all suspicious activities regarding serving ads and user-data-sale. The email mentioned that Ello has became Public Benefit Corporation and their charter states:
The Ello PBC charter states in the strongest legal terms possible that:
- Ello shall never make money from selling ads;
- Ello shall never make money from selling user data; and
- In the event that Ello is ever sold, the new owners will have to comply by these terms.
In other words, Ello exists for your benefit, and will never show ads or sell user data.
If we see Ello is not only talking about Facebook but also other big names like Apple, Microsoft, Google and all others who gather user data for their own interests and benefits.
