A few days ago, I shared how you can still upgrade your old Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows 7 to latest Windows 10 without paying a single dime. I downloaded, installed and confirmed  that the Windows 10 is working properly.

Well, Windows 10 did work properly a few days. Except one problem, I did not face any other problem. The problem was Windows 10 Start Menu interface was unresponsive. Clicking on Start menu did open the menu but I could not click on any. Everything was greyed.

Is there any problem cannot be solved? I do not think so. Just a little powershell command and the problem was gone. Here is what I did and you can do in a few easy steps. Short detail is as:

  1. Open PowerShell as administrator.
  2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter button. Just copy the command from here and paste to PowerShell.
  3. After a while, the problem will be solved.

Now let’s look at these few pics, posted below, to understand what I did.

Open PowerShell as Administrator.

Type sfc /scannow.

Press Enter and let the process run.

After sometime, you will get one of three messages in the PowerShell window after the process is complete. The message will be either corrupt files repaired or corrupt files not repaired or no corrupt file found. If the Windows 10 is not seriously corrupted, your issue will be resolved.

After running the command, the problem was solved. My Start menu became responsive.
