AVG Free AntiVirus and AVG Internet Security 2012
We have already seen that many security software vendors have updated their products, with new and advance features along with more powerful AntiVirus engines, and mark 2012. AVG and Symantec were two left behind and now only Symantec is still at the last position to release 2012 products just like they did last year. AVG has just released it security product line for home as well as business users bearing mark 2012: AVG AntiVirus Free 2012, AVG AntiVirus 2012 and AVG Internet Security.
Over the period of time, I have used Avast Free AntiVirus 6, AVG AntiVirus Free 2011, Avira Free AV with Comodo Firewall, Emsisoft Firewall (Tallemu), Outpost Free Firewall and ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. I was using Malwarebytes’ AntiMalware and Mamutu all the time. The best combination is AVG AntiVirus Free with Comodo Free Firewall. My computer was more secure when I used AVG AntiVirus Free, Comodo Firewall Free, Malwarebytes’ AntiMalware and Mamutu. I was using these software on Windows Enterprise x64.
This time, I will talk only about AVG AntiVirus Free 2012. There is not a big change from 2011 to 2012 except a new improved AntiVirus engine and two different features were put under one name. New AVG Free 2012 interface has less links though has all same features as in 2011. AntiSpyware moved under AntiVirus, You may not find Resident Shield link in main window but if you got Tools->Advanced Settings, you can find Resident Shield there.
AVG AntiVirus Free 2012 has a toolbar, too. Unlike Avira’s toolbar (basically ASK toolbar), AVG‘s is not a crappy toolbar. This toolbar is designed to give you basic protection against online threats in shape of safe search and website ratings. This toolbar also works as Facebook instant updater. More, you can know your local weather. AVG AntiVirus Free 2012 is not limited to get one update in a day as this happens with Avira Free AV users. You will get updates as many times available to download.
