Force Google Chrome to Translate Web Page Manually. Google Chrome is no doubt the most used web browser nowadays, thanks to Android which is being used by almost 80% of all smartphone users. But Chrome is popular as well on Windows, Mac and Linux. This is only because of its strong protection against eThreats and adoption of new web standard. One reason for which I have to use Google Chrome is the built-in website / web-page translation feature.

I need to update my knowledge every now and then and because of this I spend some of my daily time reading non-English websites. I need to get those non-English web-pages translated into English and Google Chrome’s built-in translation feature does this all for me. This saves me some precious time by not letting me copy and past the URL into Google online translator.

Remember:
Translating one web-page in Google Chrome means you are translating all the web-pages of that website whenever and whichever the web-page you open of that website.

My default computer language is US English. If your default computer language is different, you can translate the web-page to your language like Chinese, German, French, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Swedish, Finnish, etc. Google Chrome translation will be offered to your default computer language. In my case, it is English.

Right click on white space on the web-page you want to translate and a menu will open. There you will the translation option. Just click on it and the web-page will be translated to your computer language.

Now you will see a new icon appearing on the right side of the address / URL bar. This icons tells you that the page is translated to the interaction language of your computer.

Clicking on the above mentioned icon will open a little window right below the icon showing you two languages, one the original language of the web-page and the other your translated the web-page to. Through this window, you can always change the web-page to the original language of it.

If you want to change the language of the web-page to other than interaction language of your computer, click on the three dots icon which you can see in the image above. A menu will open. Here you can have different options regarding web-page translation, like always translate, or never translate, or never translate this website, or make correction of wrong translation. There is one more thing that you can change the translation language.

So, if you want to change the web-page translation to other than the interaction language of your computer, just click on Choose another language in the menu as shown above. A new window will open. You can select one language among all the available languages in Google Translation.

That’s it. You have successfully translated the web-page into the desired language.

Is there a restriction for secure pages? I’m trying to do this in a page with the lock on the address bar (just like this) and when I right-click anywhere on the page, it says Copywrite XXXXXX 2017@XXX something like that.
Could I be able to access a translation of it?

Imran K

It might the right click, and copy features are disabled on that website. There you can do one thing. Copy the URL and paste it in Google Translator. Select the language you wanted as translation and press the button texted Translate. It will translate the website. BR. UPDATE: If I am missing what you mean,… Read more »

How to right click on a Microsoft Surface tablet without a keyboard or a mouse?

Imran K

Hi MT,

The option does not always appear in the right click menu(or the browser’s three dots menu.) It only appears when it decides the whole site is in another language. If the page has some english(Japanese websites often do this!), it decides the whole page is English and won’t let you. How to force it to… Read more »
