The red-eye in your images is caused by light reflecting off the retina, which is a fine network of nerves in the back of the eye, an area rich in blood. Although the retina is not normally visible, if the flash is on the same plane as the lens, the light bounces directly back into the lens and the retina becomes visible in the photo, causing red-eye. This has become more common with smaller compact digital cameras where the flash is very close to the lens. Have you ever noticed that a professional photographer’s flash is mounted high on the camera? Sometimes a pro will even take it off the camera. The fact that the pupil is expanded to its maximum under most flash conditions only exaggerates the problem. Cameras with red-eye reduction will fire the flash two or more times: the first time to constrict the pupils, the second time to expose the image. [cnet]
I have never been a good biology student. This human anatomy is too difficult to understand. It was so complicated for me that I always mixed up one body part function with other and created my own anatomy studies. Well, after 12 grade of formal education, I ran away from biology. This is an old story. Because of weakness in this field, I am copying most of the contents from different resources.
This red eye problem was in old digital cameras. The latest digital cameras have already been armored and red eye in digital photos is no more a problem. But, it may some of you still have old digital cameras which are very aggressive to put red eye effects. Ashampoo Red Ex contains a sophisticated technology that automatically detects red eyes on the basis of defined parameters. The program replaces the red with a darker more natural tone, as if the red eyes had never been there. For the use of the automatic detection of red eyes, you just have to drag a frame with your mouse around the area with the red eyes and Ashampoo Red Ex will do the rest for you. Of course, a manual red-eye removal is always possible. Click here to read more about Ashampoo Red Ex v1.
