Update: Read updated article about Free Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 For One Year Here.
I know this is almost half a month old story and I am writing about it now. I just delayed it because the news about Free Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 was spread like fire. Many people rushed to it. I felt it useless to write at that time because I thought the promo would not last long and it might not helpful to write then. I was wrong and promo is still available. In fact, one of ComputeLogy reader from China informed me that this promo will be on Internet for next months. And not just this, Kingsoft Internet Security 9 is also available free of cost in Chinese language for whole 2011. As I do not know Chinese, I have to believe him and now writing about it before it is too late.

Trend Micro has renamed its security software to Titanium based on cloud security just like Panda Cloud AV. I have used Trend Micro AntiVirus (PC-cillin) for sometime in 2003/2004. It was pretty good though very heavy for system resources. But this new Titanium branded security is not heavy at all. It takes around 5Mb RAM during normal operations and 50Mb RAM when schedule/on-demand scan runs. The problem is its scanning speed is very slow compared to other AV engines and it takes long time to run on Windows startup. Its startup time is even longer that McAfee Total Protection 2011. I did not put it in any test but it should be good enough to protect you because this is era for high-techs and low-techs will be vanished within no time.

I have a few word about its interface. Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 has very simple and easily usable interface. Not too many options for a user to make it complicated. It looks like it is totally designed for a novice. It really follows the words: Install it and forget it. There is not much in settings for a user to make it simple. If you look at Avira Free AV and Avast Free AV, you will find that these two AntiViruses are more complicated then Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011. Personally, I liked its simplicity and Usability.

Trend Micro Titanium is powered by the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ infrastructure, our cloud security infrastructure that stops threats in cyberspace or “the cloud.” Smart Protection Network monitors the Internet 24/7, worldwide. It gathers and analyzes threat data, blocking viruses and other malware BEFORE they can reach your PC. And because processing is done in the cloud, Titanium uses less of your PC’s memory and disk space, so it won’t slow you down. You have to download it from a Chinese website and the installer is also in Chinese. But do not worry, I made all the snaps for your help. Just follow it and you are done. After following the steps, you will get interface in English.

Download Chinese installer from the following website. The installers are available for 64b and 32b Windows OSs.

http://www.iqushi.com/free.htm

Now I suppose, you have saved the installer and started installation. First it will extract all files at the same place where the installer is and then the real installation will start. When the installation will start, you will see snap1. Just click on the button to which the arrow is pointing.

Now you will see snap2 . You are being asked to provide license code. Just ignore it and select the 2nd radio-button just right below the license-code-text-field (first arrow). Now press the big black button pointed by 2nd arrow.

Now you will see snap3. You are being asked to accept license agreement. You accept it or not, installer will work. So, better to accept it. Left arrow is pointing the accept-check-box. Now follow right arrow pointing to a button. Press that button.

Well done. You are doing right. Installation is started as shown in snap4. Wait for a while and let it finish.

After installation is completed, you will see snap5. Just press the black button as the arrow is directing.

Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 is finally installed. Within few seconds, Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 will start its operations. Now mouse right click on it taskbar icon and select the lowest option as in snap6. It is Exit/Close option of IS.

Now open the file UIProfile in Notepad (I prefer Notepad++ because it will also show line numbers) from the following location

C:Program FilesTrend MicroUniClientUiFrmwrk

On line 75 and 85, change ZH-CN to EN-US. Save it and exit.

Now run Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 and you will notice that the whole interface is in English now. Enjoy it.
