I’ve been using Windows 7 for half a year already ever since its beta is released, and as happy as to say, I think that Windows 7 has some nice-looking and useful eye candies. However, some users who are very visual will complain that Windows 7 still has not offer enough eye candies, let alone older versions of Windows such as 2000 & XP.
I recently got informed of a freeware called ThGCube, developed by ThGSoft, a Swiss-based company. ThGCube is basically a simple rotating photo cube which displays images stored on your computer on all six sides of the cube. The cube stays on the desktop as it rotates and will change the images every few seconds interval by default.
ThGCube is very configurable, though. Users can adjust the size of the cube, the position of the cube and even the rotating speed of the cube. If users have lots of pictures stored in different directories on their PC, no problem; ThGCube allows user to change the cube to access different picture directories, making it a very flexible cube. ThGCube even uses some shortcut mouse commands to make using ThGCube simpler and faster. The cube can also be adjusted to stay on top of the desktop as well.
ThGCube functions fully as a freeware. In fact, even upgrading to the licensed version does not make any changes. Best of all, it is highly compatible with older versions of Windows, supporting the ancient Windows 98 up until Windows 7. A lot of Windows 98 or Windows 2000 users who love eye candies but could not stand with the high resources demand and compatibility issue of some famous desktop customization software such as Stardock’s WindowBlinds will definitely give ThGCube a good thumbs-up.
ThGCube has just been released this 6th of August, so it is still new and most likely will have its development continued by ThGSoft.
